Governor's House Program

The Governor’s House program was created as a way to provide reasonably sized, affordable, and energy efficient homes to income-qualified individuals and families in South Dakota.  

Who Qualifies?
Income Qualifications:
  • Household of one or two: $64,820 or less annual combined income
  • Household of three or more: $74,080 or less annual combined income
Net Worth Qualifications:
  • Age 61 or younger: Net worth less than $125,000 or $105,000 in liquid assets
  • Age 62 or older: Net worth less than $250,000 or $140,000 in liquid assets
Other Requirements:
  • Consider the home their only residence
  • Place the home within South Dakota

  • 24' x 50' home - 1,200 sq. ft.
  • 2" X 6" exterior wall construction with R21 Batt insulation + R7.5 1-1/2" foam = R28.5 insulation
  • 1/2" sheetrock on all interior walls; 5/8" sheetrock on ceilings
  • R-60 blown in fiberglass insulation in the attic
  • Vinyl traditional lap D-4 siding
  • Vinyl windows with insulated glass
  • Architectural Asphalt Shingles
  • Unit is a 2-ton unit rated at 15 SEER/8.5 HSPF
  • Air-Source Heat Pump to provide primary cooling and secondary heating
